Dear Sixth Graders and Their Families,
Congratulations, you made it! Welcome to the sixth grade and your last year in Primary School. My name is Mr. Donald Pierce and I hope you are ready to make your mark on the world and that you are as excited as I am to start this new school year. I am thrilled to be your teacher and I am looking forward to having a fun and productive school year with you. I hope you are ready to bring your “A” game this year, because as a sixth grader you will have many expectations and responsibilities. You will be seen as leaders in the Primary School and I know you will be up to the task.
I want to share a few things about myself. I am originally from California, but I have lived in six different states and in four different countries. I have a daughter named Savannah who is a second grader here at Boston School International and a dog named Yoda. I love baseball (Go Giants!), camping, and the Harry Potter series. I earned both my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. I have taught first, third, and sixth grade in addition to teaching Middle School and High School. I also served as a Vice Principal for four years. I truly enjoy being a teacher and love coming to work every day.
In my classroom, we will work hard to promote team building and good work and study habits. I believe that a classroom should be a safe place for students to learn and grow which is why I do not tolerate bullying of any sort. I strive to create an atmosphere that encourages students to take chances, explore new ideas, and be themselves so I hope like you feel that you can be yourself. In addition to this, I also believe that parents, teachers, and students should work together to help students achieve their goals. I am excited to start this new part of your educational career with you and look forward to seeing you real soon. Enjoy the last of your summer vacation!
